Buckhorn Grill got its start serving delicious tri-tip sandwiches at farmers markets in Napa in the late 1990s.
It’s been a major success since. And now residents of Rocklin can enjoy what expertly prepared California BBQ is all about at the new restaurant, which opened at the end of January on Crossing Drive.
For now, the restaurant has temporary operating hours, open 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday, 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Thursday and 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Rocklin Crossings shopping center.
Serving certified angus beef tri-tip, Buckhorn also makes char-broiled chicken, pulled pork, ribs, salmon and sausage. You can buy the meats by the pound or include your preferred protein in a salad. Dressings include honey lime, ranch, honey basil, Caesar and sesame. The roadhouse salad is a favorite and is made with mixed greens, string beans, tomatoes, sweet walnuts, onions, blue cheese crumbles and honey basil vinaigrette.
Buckhorn sandwiches are hefty, packed with tri-tip, crispy chicken, salmon or pulled pork. The classic tri-tip sandwich is layered with caramelized onion and comes with au jus dipping sauce. Other sandwiches are assembled with bacon, cheese, chipotle sauce, avocado and other irresistible pairings that go well with the charbroiled meats.
Burgers are another option. The Buckhorn burger comes with roadhouse onions, cheddar cheese and sweet fire BBQ sauce. If you crave the best of both worlds, try tri-tip meat in your burger.
For a complete dinner experience, Buckhorn serves its meats on platters with exquisite sides, such as red mashers and gravy, mac and cheese, beans, roasted vegetables, broccoli salad and more.
