{"id":4767,"date":"2021-10-14T11:37:26","date_gmt":"2021-10-14T18:37:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iheartplacer.com\/?p=4767"},"modified":"2021-10-14T11:37:26","modified_gmt":"2021-10-14T18:37:26","slug":"placer-county-residents-can-return-medications-vaping-devices-for-proper-disposal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iheartplacer.com\/blog\/placer-county-residents-can-return-medications-vaping-devices-for-proper-disposal","title":{"rendered":"Placer County residents can return medications, vaping devices for proper disposal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Got unneeded or expired medication or vaping devices? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.placer.ca.gov\/7563\/Free-medication-and-vaping-device-take-b\">Placer County can take them<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Placer County and other partners are organizing a take-back event later this month where residents can drop off prescriptions, over-the-counter medications and vaping devices they no longer need.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives with local government agencies and law enforcement will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 23 at various drop-off locations. You are welcome to come by and drop off unwanted or unneeded medications, controlled substances, veterinary medications and vaping devices. Illegal substances, medical waste and other similar items will not be accepted.<\/p>\n<p>If you plan on swinging by, keep in mind that it\u2019s best to leave meds in original containers or packaging. Batteries should also be removed from devices whenever possible.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the county collected over 2,000 pounds of medication. Since the program began in 2010, more than 85,000 pounds have been taken.
