A new outdoor public market destination at Quarry Park is brewing.
The city of Rocklin was briefed on a concept for a compliment to the park and amphitheater concert series: the Quarry Park Outdoor Public Market. City leaders envision a lively gathering hub with food trucks, adult-friendly drinks, retail, specialty items, a stage for concerts and other community events.
The city is also exploring the use of trendy modified cargo containers for on-site food vending and covered seating areas. Across the nation, more and more outdoor markets are turning heads for all the right reasons. They provide a safe place for community members to come together and engage in the local economy.
The outdoor market would be located on nearly an acre of land near Pacific Street and Adventure Way at the entrance of Quarry Park Adventures.
According to a report by the city manager’s office, the proposal will not come at a high cost to taxpayers. The city would instead seek proposals from companies interested in leasing and operating the market.
The successful bid will commit to paying for all project costs, permitting and impact fees.
In addition, the planning commission will make recommendations on the design and architecture, so it aligns with the city’s vision and zoning requirements.
Overflow parking at Quarry Park Adventures will continue under the proposal, which was first made public in mid-October.
The city council will provide guidance on further development on a formal proposal to advance the project.
