Quarry Park Adventures is currently in the development phases. When it is complete, it will allow attendees to zip line, ride on giant swings, participate in free-fall jumps, ride paddle boats and much more.

The adventure park will be located at the historic quarry site in Rocklin (4060 Rocklin Road).

In the meantime, Quarry Park Adventures is currently seeking local acting talent to participate in a 2018 promotional campaign for the park. Families and individuals with enthusiasm for the idea of the park are being encouraged to try out to be a part of the campaign on Friday, Nov. 10, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 4060 Rocklin Road, Rocklin. Those who try out do not need any specific talents or acting experience.

The actors selected will appear in TV, radio, print and social media campaigns for Quarry Park Adventures.

The Rocklin City Council recently agreed to spend $2.6 million on the various design elements of the park, including zip lines, a rope course and climbing activities along quarry rock faces. The construction elements are expected to be completed by February, with the park opening in spring 2018.

City officials have said that the project has the potential to be a catalyst for Rocklin business and development in the Quarry District and hopes to attract customers to local business to increase local tax revenue.

A proposed 4,787-acre development could bring thousands of new homes, new commercial/office property and five new schools to Lincoln.

The Lincoln Planning Commission will be reviewing plans for the project, known as Village 5, during a Nov. 1 public hearing. The project plans include single-family residential properties, multi-family residential properties, mixed-use properties, commercial properties, and regional uses, including parks and open space areas.

Village 5 would be located southwest of the current city limits, north and south of State Highway 65, but within Lincoln’s “Sphere of Influence”, as outlined in the city’s 2050 General Plan.

The project plans call for:

  • 8,242 dwelling units (rural residential, country estates and low-to-high density residential);
  • 7.5 acres (56 units) of mixed use;
  • 196.3 acres of commercial;
  • 159.9 acres of office/commercial; and
  • 42.8 acres of business and professional space.

In addition, the project calls for three new elementary schools, one new middle school and one new high school.

The Lincoln Planning Commission will be voting on the certification of the final environmental impact report, approval of a General Plan amendment and a development agreement by and between the city of Lincoln and Richland Developers, Inc., among other aspects.

The Roseville City Council has approved an agreement that may boost the rail service options between Roseville and the Bay Area.

The number of train trips would increase from one round trip per day, to ten per day on Amtrak’s Capitol Corridor, which spans from Auburn to San Jose. More specifically, the number of routes between Roseville and Sacramento to be bumped up to 10 per day, and those subsequently would go to and from the Bay Area.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) unanimously approved by the city council is between the city of Roseville and the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority. An Environmental Impact Report and design plans for railroad track improvements between Roseville and Sacramento are also a part of the agreement. The agreement explains that “additional parking supply will be required as a result of the expanded service, and as currently proposed the installation of the new track and layover facility will also remove existing parking in the Historic Old Town area.”

It is expected that the implementation of this Capitol Corridor Third Track project will increase activity in Old Town Roseville. This prediction is based on the idea that a new customer base will be drawn to the area, which the existing business can leverage to increase sales.

You can find the current train schedule here.

A regional effort to bring Amazon’s second company headquarters to Northern California, along with 50,000 high-paying jobs, recently received a shot in the arm thanks to the city of Roseville.

In adopting a resolution, city leaders agreed to partner with the Greater Sacramento Economic Council by offering two city-owned parcels of land that would be used in an economic and inventive package to meet Amazon’s request for proposals (RFP). Amazon is currently seeking another headquarters outside of its existing Seattle facility, and Sacramento threw its hat in the ring last month.

Roseville identified two sites that allows it to participate in the regional response. Both 290 Conference Center Drive, an 11-acre site with utility and traffic capacity for a 500,000-square-foot office, and 6382 Phillip Road, 160 acres with room for 1,080,000 square feet of processional office, were both named by Roseville.

Amazon’s RFP is vague, so the regional teamwork will streamline the process to ensure the delivery of a single, coordinated pitch.

Dozens of other cities across the nation are currently competing to be selected for Amazon’s $5 billion capital investment project. The deadline to submit proposals to Amazon is next week. Amazon will select a site sometime in 2018.

Here’s what Amazon is looking for:

  • Metropolitan areas with more than one million people.
  • Stable and business-friendly environment.
  • Urban or suburban locations with the potential to attract and retain strong technical talent.
  • Communities that think big and creatively when considering location and real estate options.

The city of Roseville thinks the region meets all these requirements.

El Dorado, Placer and Sacramento counties and Elk Grove, Lincoln, Sacramento and West Sacramento are coordinating the regional effort. Roseville’s inclusion is welcome news for the massive effort. Amazon says it will hire as many as 50,000 new full-time employees with an average annual salary exceeding $100,000 over the next 10-15 years. Amazon will hire workers to fill jobs in management, engineering, software development, accounting and administrative positions.

Any further action with possible considerations will have to be brought back to the city for approval, a city of Roseville official said.
