There may be new transit services coming to Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows.
The Placer County Board of Supervisors is considering adding on-demand shuttle services in the area. The service would transport people between the two destinations that currently experience barriers to transit options. The service would also connect to the TART transit system.
Two pilot programs of the service were tested between Christmas and New Years, as well as the 2017 World Cup Ski Races. The pilot programs were dubbed a success and the county is now looking to make the service permanent.
Olympic Valley is a beautiful resort near Lake Tahoe that draws visitors all year long, but serves as a key destination for skiers because it gets around 450 inches of snowfall each year, to go along with more than 300 sunny days. Alpine Meadows features lodges and hospitality for skiers and families looking for a vacation near Lake Tahoe. Skiers and snowboarders appreciate the 2,400 acres that features over 100 trails.
Next steps for the shuttle service project include: a public meeting in North Lake Tahoe on July 24, and a public hearing and adoption of a resolution on Aug. 28.
The great outdoor options are just another reason why we love Placer County.
