Plans for a new Costco in Loomis took a step forward this month when the Town Council approved a consultant for the project’s Environmental Impact Report (EIR).

AECOM Technical Services will facilitate the EIR, which will examine possible issues arising from the project and the surrounding area, relating to traffic, air, water and land. The new 152,000 square-foot Costco building would be located on a 17-acre site southeast of Brace Road and Sierra College Blvd.

The EIR can take several months and precedes other crucial steps, including comment from the public and other stakeholders, according to a Loomis official. During the July 11 council meeting, the resolution capped this part of the project at $199,215.

According to the Sacramento Business Journal, the membership-only mega store could open in time for the 2018 holidays.

Costco has a location on Stanford Ranch Road in Roseville if you are wondering about a store near Loomis.
