Burgers come in all shapes, sizes and styles.

Thankfully, Auburn is home to a variety of burger shops that know how to get them done well, or medium well if that’s how you prefer your burger.

No matter how you like your burger put together or what toppings you crave, you’ll find a new go-to burger at these Auburn restaurants.

Burger & Cream

Family owned since 1986, this burger restaurant serves up American fare made with quality and fresh ingredients every time.

Burger & Cream has two locations, in Auburn and Grass Valley, and is best known for its Boss Burger, a 1/3-pound burger with sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion rings and two types of cheeses. All burgers are made with fresh, 100% all-natural Angus chuck patties.

Customers familiar with Burger & Cream rave about the western, a large BBQ burger with Tillamook cheddar, bacon and onion rings. Other options that might get your appetite going are the spicy Johnny (Sriracha, ghost pepper jack and jalapenos give it the kick) and the Guido burger with pastrami, Swiss, grilled onion, mustard, pickles, lettuce and tomato.

And don’t forget dessert. The restaurant’s soft-serve ice cream treats are unfairly tasty, including the cookie monster Twister with crushed Oreo and cookie dough.

Local Heroes

Scrumptious and delicious. Cooked to perfection. One of the best around. These are just some of the impressions visitors are left with after dining at Local Heroes.

These burger heroes make a generously sized sandwich with brioche bread and 1/3-pound Angus beef patty. The list of specialty burgers is lengthy. One of the many highlights is the A-Town, a simple burger with grilled onions, American cheese and bacon. All burgers come with house sauce, lettuce, onion and tomato.

A frequently ordered burger, the California burger, adds pepper jack cheese, bacon and avocado. Other burger creations include the Roper (smoked goat cheddar), Sgt. Sutherland (blue cheese), jalapeno burger, the Confluence (sauteed mushrooms and Swiss cheese) and so many others. Beyond burgers are also made to order.

The Club Car

Looking for a handcrafted gourmet charbroiled burger that checks all the boxes? This is it.

The Club Car is an experience in more than one way (full menu and live music). For burgers, here’s what you can expect: a juicy 8-ounce patty served on a grilled bun with a side of skinny or fat fries, potato chips, zucchini fries, sweet potato fries, soup or salad.

One of the favorites is the classic burger, featuring the ingredients you’d expect in a traditional burger. Other options, such as the Wild West bison burger really mixes it up with naturally lean meat, cheddar cheese and fried onions. The signature bistro burger has brie cheese, cheddar cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and mayo.
